Why Prenatal Education?
I believe that everyone should have access to prenatal education and that it is important to attend a well rounded prenatal education program. I absolutely believe that doing your own research is very important, however it is easy to miss critical information that can help you to understand interventions that may be offered to you by your obstetrician, family doctor or midwife. In order to reduce stress and anxiety during pregnancy, birth and the early postpartum knowing what to expect, what is normal and when and where to reach out for help can make the difference between significant stress and overwhelm and feeling calm and prepared to make the decisions that are best for you and your family.
Everyone learns differently and over the past several years so much information can be accessed online. If this is how you learn best - AMAZING! I personally have a much easier time learning live from a real person, in a setting where I can ask questions right away. So that is what I offer! Come and spend an evening hanging out with me and other expecting families and learn about labour and birth, comfort measures in labour, the first 6 weeks with baby, breastfeeding or pumping before your baby arrives so that you can feel EMPOWERED to make informed decisions about your birth and infant feeding journeys.
Birth plans and infant feeding plans are wonderful and important. The challenge comes when babies decide that they have different plans. Having an understanding of the different options available to you and an opportunity to discuss them with your support system before baby arrives will reduce the stress and overwhelm involved in the labour, birth and infant feeding journeys.
I can’t wait to meet you and your labour, birth and postpartum support team!
Workshops are offered in Arnprior, Pembroke and Cobden in 2025.
